Merging Explained

Merging is the overall process by which data gets injected into the template and all Document or Slide Generation features fire and produces an output file called a Merged Document/Presentation.

Servers which process the merges;

1. SharePoint Server (merges <= 50/event)
2. Merge Server (merges >= 51/event)

Merges will take place on the Merge Server once it has been activated on the SharePoint server's Central Admin and the templates have been published.

Manners in which merges can be triggered are;

1. SharePoint list Events
2. External System Call to SharePoint
3. Document Assembly Wizard
4. Workflow Processes
5. External System Call to Merge Server
